With 18 cultural events in seven locations over three days, the inaugural Irish Festival Fribourg/Freiburg brought the best of Ireland to Fribourg on the weekend of October 6-8, 2023.
Switzerland’s first full festival of Irish culture offered a rich programme of Irish literature, music, cinema, food and drink. The whiskey tasting sessions with John Callely, the writing workshop, the Belfast documentary Young Plato and the public lectures were just some of the highlights.
Authors John Boyne, Anne Griffin, Sarah Moore Fitzgerald, Nuala O’Connor and Padraig Rooney received a warm Fribourg welcome, as did The Dixie Micks and The Celtic Cello, playing to full houses.
Heartfelt thanks to all our partners, sponsors, volunteers, guests and audience members from near and far. You made the festival a great success!
